I am Garrett Clendening CSCS from Ethan, South Dakota. I attended USD for pre-med and majored in Medical Biology and Neuroscience. I am applying to medical school and aim to be a family physician someday and integrate my exercise and nutrition experience and knowledge into my practice.
I coach at a Avera St. Benedict wellness center in Parkston, South Dakota and I train all ages from middle school to elderly clients. I intend to start training clients out of my new home gym as a less intimidating more personal experience.
My goal as a coach is to help everyone realize they only need to take at minimum 5% of their time (roughly an hour a day) and not even everyday to get basic life long results that can keep you healthy and independent for life.
Exercise is for everyone. There are no barriers to entry no matter the person and their injury or training history. A good coach can create an exercise program for anyone in any situation. No matter if you have a neurological condition, joint replacements, injuries, or age related conditions there’s no reason to not exercise in my opinion. Even one day a week can create results at the lowest level.
Powerlifting is my sport right now. I intend to compete in strongman someday as well. My PRs are a 425 squat, 242 bench, and a 510 deadlift (I pulled 551 in competition and locked it out, but was called for ramping, I still count it in my head).
I have been lifting since in high school, but did not find a passion for it until my college years. My friend and mentor Dr. Ryan Hanks coached me in high school and that is when I started to like lifting weights. I initially started off with bodybuilding style training as everyone does, but did Ryan's Rob Marchand charity powerlifting meet and then I was hooked. I dove deep into the world of powerlifting and I am truly obsessed.
That led me to the Massenomics Cru where I have made more friends and have had more fun than I could have ever imagined possible. They keep me motivated and striving to be stronger and a better coach everyday.
If you have read this far I thank you and you must be interested enough so please send me an email or DM on Instagram and let's see what I can do for you.
